Rates
Every person engaged or intending to engage in any calling,
business,
occupation or profession within the town limits of the Town of
Meggett, South Carolina, is required to pay an annual license fee and obtain a
Municipal Business License.

Example: For a class 1 business with gross income of $200,000, the
rate is $30 for the first $2,000 of income, plus $198.00 ( 1.00 per thousand
over $2,000) for a total business license fee of $228.00

CLASS 8: The total fee
for the full amount of the contract shall be paid prior to commencement of work
and shall entitle contractor to complete the job without regard to the normal
expiration date. If performing a new job which requires a separate permit,
business license must be upgraded to include the appropriate additional fee per
$1,000 of the contract amount prior to commencement of work. Only one base fee
shall be paid in a calendar year.
Subcontractors shall be licensed on
the same basis as general or prime contractors for the same job, and no
deductions shall be made by a general contractor for value of work performed by
a sub-contractor.
